No. 2 Men's Lacrosse Opens ACC Play Saturday Versus No. 3 Syracuse

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina men's lacrosse team begins Atlantic Coast Conference play Saturday, hosting Syracuse in a top-three matchup. Opening faceoff between the Tar Heels and Orange is set for 2 PM from Dorrance Field.

Dogs At Dorrance Is Back
• The Carolina men's lacrosse team hosts their annual Dogs at Dorrance game when they welcome Syracuse tomorrow afternoon.
• A ticket will be required for each person accompanying a dog attending the game. All UNC students, faculty, and staff can pick up complimentary dog-section tickets at the Dorrance Field ticket booth starting one hour prior to faceoff on the day of the game.
• Fans with dogs will be allowed to enter Dorrance Field through any entrance but will be seated in sections 19, 20, or 21. Dogs will not be permitted to be seated in any other areas of the stadium.
• All dogs must have current vaccinations.
• Dog owners assume responsibility for the actions of their dogs while at this event. All dogs must be always kept on a fixed leash (no longer than 6 ft.). No retractable leashes.
• The game may be crowded and the weather could be warm. Please ensure your dog is comfortable in these types of conditions before planning to attend this event.
Midseason All-America Honors
• Friday morning, Inside Lacrosse announced their Midseason All-America lists, which featured seven Tar Heels.
• Owen Duffy and Brady Wambach collected first-team honors, Ty English and Mason Szewczyk were named to the third team, and the trio of Leif Hagerup, Dominic Pietramala and Peter Thomann earned honorable mention recognition.
Last Time Out - Harvard
• On Sunday, the Tar Heels defeated third-ranked Harvard, 17-7, at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md.
• Owen Duffy posted a career-high seven goals in the game, and faceoff specialist Brady Wambach won a career best 22 faceoffs, while adding an assist and 12 ground balls.
• In goal, freshman Josh Marcus stopped 11 Crimson shots on the day.
• The win for the Tar Heels was their fifth ranked win of the season, and the first against a top-three opponent.
A Win Over Syracuse Would...
• Give Carolina their 14th win over Syracuse, and ninth win in Chapel Hill.
• Help the Tar Heels start 1-0 in ACC play and improve to 7-0 at Dorrance Field this season.
• Be Carolina's sixth ranked win of the campaign, and its second-straight top-three victory.
• Be Coach Breschi's 271st career victory and 179th win as the head coach of the Tar Heels.
Wambach At The Stripe
• Entering Saturday, faceoff specialist Brady Wambach ranks third among active Division I players with 544 faceoff wins:

- 2024: 146 faceoff wins
- 2025: 225 faceoff wins

• Wambach is the first Tar Heel in program history to have four games of 20-or-more faceoff wins in program history, and leads the nation in faceoff win percentage (.718).
• In 2025, Wambach earned USILA First Team All-America honors, becoming the first Tar Heel to collect First Team recognition since R.G. Keenan in 2012.
Gettin' Defensive
• Since the arrival of defensive coordinator Dave Pietramala prior to the 2024 season, Carolina is 21-0 when allowing nine-or-fewer goals, and 112-13 under head coach Joe Breschi during his career at UNC when giving up single-digit goals.
• This season, the Tar Heels are 7-0 when allowing nine-or-fewer goals:
