Men's Lacrosse, Harvard Matchup In Top-Five Showdown Sunday

SEVERN, Md. - For the first time this season, the fifth-ranked North Carolina men's lacrosse team will meet a top-five opponent, matching up with No. 3 Harvard on Sunday. Opening faceoff between the Tar Heels and Crimson is set for 1 PM, from Archbishop Spalding High School in Maryland.

A Win Over Harvard Would...
• Give Carolina their fifth win over Harvard, the first at a neutral site in program history.
• Be the fourth time in program history defeating three-or-more Ivy League opponents in the same season, joining the 1990, 2011 and 2013 teams.
• Help the Tar Heels collect their third win away from Chapel Hill this season.
• Be Carolina's fifth ranked win of the campaign, and its first top-five victory of 2026.

Wambach Named ACC Player Of The Week
• On Tuesday, Brady Wambach was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
• Wambach posted 21 faceoff wins, tying his career best, also adding 16 ground balls in the Tar Heels' 12-11 victory over No. 19 Army last weekend.
• Saturday was the fifth time in Wambach's career posting 20-or-more faceoff wins. After starting the game 2-6 from the stripe, the Pittsford, N.Y. product rattled off 17-straight faceoff wins. Additionally, the junior's 16 ground balls were just one shy of his previously set UNC single-game ground ball record, and the seventh time in 2026 posting 10-plus ground balls.
Youngsters In The Midfield
• The Tar Heel second midfield group of Luke Bair, Gary Merrill and Anthony Raio have posted a combined 25 goals and seven assists this season.
• The trio is the first freshmen midfield group to play together since 2017 (Justin Anderson, Tanner Cook and Will Perry).
• In the last three games, each of the players has posted a hat trick:
- Luke Bair vs. Brown
- Anthony Raio vs. No. 9 Penn State
- Gary Merrill vs. No. 19 Army
• The instance is the first time since 2012 Carolina has had a different freshman score a hat trick in three-straight games:
- Joey Sankey vs. Maryland (March 24, 2012)
