Men’s Soccer Wins Third Straight, Beats UNCW 5-0
March 14, 2026 | Men's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina men's soccer dominated play while cruising past UNCW 5-0 at Finley Fields on Saturday. The Heels are now 3-0 this spring. Bertil Rygaard Hansen had a monster day with four goals and the defense was stout, earning its first clean sheet of the spring.
Rygaard Hansen opened the scoring early after getting on the end of a Joschi Shelb feed to make it 1-0. He doubled the tally by taking the ball off a UNCW defender and slotting home. His other two goals came on a penalty he drew and a lovely toe pick off another assist from Schelb.
Back from international duty with Bermuda, Jace Donawa was UNC's other goal scorer. He pounced on a ball that was loose in the box and rifled it past the keeper in the bottom left corner.
Defensively, the entire team pressed hard and made life difficult for UNCW. Carolina's keeper Alan Rutkowski directed traffic but wasn't forced into much action.
Carolina will take some time off for spring break and will be back on the pitch Saturday, March 28 when it hosts High Point at 6 p.m.
