Men's Golf Debuts Spring Slate In Hawai'i
February 4, 2026 | Men's Golf
Carolina men's golf returns to competition Thursday (Feb. 5) through Saturday in Hawai'i in the Amer Ari Invitational, hosted by Hawai'i-Hilo at the Mauna Mani Resort's North Course.
This is the fifth consecutive year the Tar Heels are scheduled to play in the Amer Ari Invitational. Carolina won the event in 2024, was runner-up last year and placed fourth in 2022. In 2023, the tournament was canceled due to high winds.
The tournament is Carolina's first of the spring semester. The Tar Heels are playing for the first time since finishing third in the Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington last October.
UNC's lineup for the Amer Ari Invitational features freshman Carson Bertagnole, junior Niall Sheils Donegan, sophomores Grant Roscich and Sihan Sandhu and graduate student Andrew Riley. Senior Keaton Vo is competing as an individual entry.
Sheills Donegan led the Tar Heels in scoring average in the fall at 70.56. Bertagnole was second at 71.13, and won the Fighting Irish Classic at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course in early October.
Carolina is ranked 15th in the country and is one of eight top-20 teams in the tournament.
Joining the Tar Heels in the field are No. 7 Arizona State, No. 5 Auburn, UC Davis, UCLA, No. 17 Georgia Tech, Hawai'i, Hawai'i-Hilo, No. 11 Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Pacific, No. 4 Pepperdine, San Jose State, Stanford, No. 6 Texas, UT-Arlington, No. 16 Texas Tech and Washington.
