No. 3 Notre Dame Halts Men's Lacrosse, 18-9

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Third-ranked Notre Dame (10-2, 4-2) downed the North Carolina men's lacrosse team (7-7, 1-5) 18-9, Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale at Dorrance Field.

- The Fighting Irish stormed out to start the game, jumping out to a 4-0 lead.
- James Matan, along with Henry and Harrison Schertzinger swung the momentum in North Carolina's favor, trimming the deficit to 4-3.
- Notre Dame ended the opening quarter with back-to-back goals, to lead 6-3 after the first.
- The Irish outscored UNC 4-0 in the second quarter, entering the halftime break with a 10-3 edge.
- A back-and-forth third quarter saw the visitors outpace UNC 4-3, with scores courtesy of Logan McGovern, Dewey Egan, and Sean Goldsmith, as Notre Dame expanded their lead to 14-6 entering the final frame.
- The two program mirrored a back-and-forth fourth quarter, in which Notre Dame outscored UNC 4-3 once again, as the visiting Fighting Irish would lead victorious, 18-9.
- Offensively, Goldsmith and Ryan Levy each scored two goals for the Tar Heels, followed by a goal each from five different players.
- Levy led North Carolina with three points on the day.
- Andrew Tyeryar (13-25) and Graham Schwartz (4-6) combined to win the faceoff battle.
- Freshman Kent Goode played the final three quarters in goal for North Carolina, stopping 12 shots.
- Notre Dame leads the all-time matchup between the two programs, 12-11.
- Levy's two goals and three points tied a career best for the sophomore.
- Saturday was the 51st career game Sean Goldsmith has recorded a point, as Logan McGovern found the point column for the 47th time in his career.
- McGovern extended his point and goal streak to 14 games.
- Goode's 12 saves was a career high for the freshman.
