Gymnastics Concludes Regular Season At Missouri Quad Meet

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of North Carolina gymnastics teams saw its highest team scores of the year on vault and bars as it concluded the regular season in Columbia, Missouri, at the Mizzou Quad Meet on Friday night at the Hearnes Center.
The Tar Heels topped Southeast Missouri State, 196.275-195.675, but fell to host Missouri, 197.250-196.275, and Ball State, 196.400-196.275. UNC's record now sits at 15-6 (6-0) overall.
A pair of gymnasts earned podium finishes during the final meet before postseason competition: Lali Dekanoidze on vault (T-2nd, 9.875) while she and Elizabeth Culton shared the runner-up spot on bars with scores of 9.925.
For the 10th consecutive meet, Carolina posted the highest score of all competing teams on bars with a new season-high 49.425.
Rotation One – Beam
Starting the meet off on beam, Taylor Schulze threw down a 9.900 to match her career best and surpass her previous season-high of 9.825. Hannah Nam tied her season-high set the week prior at 9.850, the same score Culton produced. Rounding out UNC scorers were Hallie Thompson (9.800) and Gwen Fink (9.600).
Carolina's team score of 49.000 ranked third among all competitors, trailing Mizzou (49.525) and Ball State (49.200) but ahead of Southeast Missouri State (48.850).
Rotation Two – Floor
Culton and Julia Knower both recorded scores of 9.825 to lead the way for the Tar Heels on their second rotation. Nam (9.750), Kaya Forbes (9.675) and Fink (9.650) also contributed for North Carolina on floor.
The host put together the highest team score on floor at 49.475, followed by the Redhawks' 49.075 and the Cardinals' 48.850. The Tar Heels ended the rotation with a 48.725.
Rotation Three – Vault
Dekanoidze impressed with a 9.875 on vault, tying for second overall as the first of three podium finishes for UNC. Paige Prejean matched her personal-best 9.850, and the Tar Heels also counted routines from Fink (9.800), Knower (9.800) and Isabelle Schaefer (9.750). Schaefer tied her season-high.
North Carolina saw its highest total score of the season at 49.125, just behind Ball State's 49.225. Missouri (48.975) and SEMO (48.475) completed the team scores.
Rotation Four – Bars
Carolina saved its best performance for last on bars. A pair of 9.925s came from Dekanoidze – her eighth above 9.900 this year – and Culton, who set a new season-high, as the athletes tied for second. Fink's mark of 9.900 erased her previous career high of 9.850 and is now tied for fourth all-time in school history. Schaefer (9.850) and Knower (9.825) also scored.
For the 10th straight meet, UNC posted the highest team score of the competition on bars with its season-best 49.425. UM (49.300), BSU (49.125) and SEMO (48.275) wrapped up the team scores.
