Gerard's 67-66 Leads UNC to Day One Lead at Duke

Four Tar Heels in the Top 10 at the Rod Myers Invitational
Ryan Gerard shot 67 Saturday morning and a 6-under-par 66 in the afternoon and is one of four Tar Heels in the top 10 after 36 holes at the Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Club.
Carolina shot 14 under par in the opening round and 11 under in the second to post 25-under-551. The Tar Heels have an eight-shot lead over NC State (-17). North Florida is third at 8 under and Duke and Virginia Tech are tied for fourth at 7 under.
Gerard is at 11-under 133 and has a two-stroke lead over Maximilian Steinlechner of NC State. The 66 tied the third-lowest round of his career and was his best since he shot 66 at the John Burns Intercollegiate in 2020.
Freshman David Ford is tied for fourth at 6-under 138, opening with a 70 and shooting a bogey-free 68 in the second round. Senior Dougie Ergood, playing as an individual entry, tied his career-low with a 66 in the afternoon and is also tied for fourth at 6 under.
Austin Greaser shot 68-71 and is tied for ninth at 5-under 139.
The third and final round is Sunday. The Tar Heels tee off beginning at 9:17 a.m.
