
UNC Kicks Off Outdoor Season At Wake Forest Open

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- UNC track and field started off the outdoor season Friday at the Wake Forest Open where senior Andrew Rotz led the Tar Heels on Day 1 of the two day invitational.
Rotz took fourth in the men's 800 with a time of 1:53.92 for the highest Carolina finish of the day, while sophomore Lea Anna Godwin took sixth in the same event in 2:14.74 to lead the women's team.
Junior Malai Walker finished third out of 87 runners in the women's 100 prelims (12.14) and will compete Saturday in the finals of that event. Sophomore Brittany Carroll also competed, finishing 30th in 12.72.
Senior Callie Pottinger took 12th in the women's 400 (57.12) and sophomore Marisa Dobbins finished 34th (58.56). Freshman Mike Jacobs also competed in the men's 800, finishing 44th in 1:59.41.
The Wake Forest Open continues Saturday at Kentner Stadium with field events starting at 9:30 a.m. and track events beginning at 11:00 a.m. Live results will be available throughout the day at FlashResults.com.
