Tar Heels Shutout UNC Wilmington, 3-0

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Senior midfielder Matt Crawford scored a goal and added an assist to lead North Carolina to a 3-0 shutout win over host UNC Wilmington in men's soccer action Tuesday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
The Tar Heels, ranked 23rd nationally in the NSCAA poll, improve to 11-5-1. Meanwhile, the Seahawks drop to 6-8-0 on the season.
The victory is the 173rd in Elmar Bolowich's 14-year head coaching career at Carolina, moving him past Anson Dorrance into sole possession of second place on the school's all-time coaching victory chart. Marvin Allen is the school's career leader with 174 coaching wins.
Senior forward David Testo opened the Tar Heel scoring at the 29:07 mark, giving UNC a 1-0 lead at the half. Testo tallied his fourth goal of the season as senior Ryan Kneipper crossed the ball to junior forward Sean McGinty, who headed the ball down onto Testo's foot.
Sophomore forward Jonathan Davis put the Tar Heels up 2-0, at the 62:52 mark, off a through-ball from Crawford and fired the ball past Seahawk goalkeeper Bill Mills.
Crawford later scored his fifth goal of the season, at 86:53, off an assist by sophomore midfielder Tim Merritt.
Freshman goalkeeper Ford Williams made one save, while Mills had a season-high eight saves on the match.
The Tar Heels head to Clemson, November 3rd, for an Atlantic Coast Conference match at 2:00 p.m.
