Steven's got tremendously quick hands and a great outlet pass. He's really improved his outlet.
He possesses quickness and saves the ball well.
He's continuing to manage the defense in front of him and become more of a vocal leader for us.
I think the fact that we do have trust in him and him knowing that he is the number one guy coming in this year he should be confident.
General: Returning starter in the goal for the Tar Heels...two-year letterman after transferring from Penn State...athletic 5-10, 170 performer in the cage.
2011 (Redshirt Sophomore): Moved into the starting lineup against Dartmouth on March 22 and started the last nine games of the season...made 79 saves and allowed 69 goals for a save percentage of .534...had a goals against average of 8.18...was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week March 28 after the first two starts of his career against Dartmouth and Maryland...had 12 saves and allowed only seven goals against the Big Green...made a career-high 13 saves and allowed only six goals in win at Maryland...matched that career high with 13 saves while allowing only eight goals in overtime win over Notre Dame...had 22 ground balls and caused two turnovers...matched his career high with four ground balls against Maryland in the ACC Tournament game.
2010 (Redshirt Freshman): Backed up Chris Madalon in the goal...played in three games, totaling 59:01 minutes in the cage...had a save percentage of .632 and a goals against average of 7.12...earned the win against Ohio State...had two saves against both Lehigh and Dartmouth...was superb against Ohio State...played the last 36:26 of the game and made eight saves while allowing four goals...also had four ground balls in the win over the Buckeyes.
2009 (Freshman): Spent his freshman year at Penn State University as a redshirt goalkeeper...transferred to Carolina in spring semester 2010 to compete for the Tar Heels.
Prep: Graduated from Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, N.Y. in 2008... was coached in high school by Mike Hoppey...a 2008 high school All-America selection...played in the 2008 Under Armour All-America Game...excelled in that contest and was tapped the game MVP...snared Suffolk County Rookie of the Year kudos in 2006...member of the 2007 Long Island Empire State Games Team...a 2007 All-Suffolk County selection...led Ward Melville to an undefeated season in 2008 as well as a division championship and a spot in the Suffolk County championship match...the team was also the division champion in 2006 and garnered Suffolk County Tournament finalist status in 2006, 2007 and 2008...his senior year team was ranked in the Top 5 nationally...played for the Long Island Express club team...Nike Blue Chip Camp attendee...played for Team Long Island...member of Spanish Honor Society.

1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is having the opportunity to compete for a national championship every year.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Breschi is his desire to win.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is my mental toughness.
4. My best friend on another college lacrosse team is Kyle Moeller (Stony Brook).
5. My greatest strength as a lacrosse player is outlet passes.
Section #2 (Steven's Interests)
1. Away from the lacrosse field and academic pursuits I like to spend time at the beach.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is MacGruber.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be fencing.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is the Dave Matthews Band.
5. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is I like turtles.
Section #3 (Food and Beverage)
1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a tailgate spread that included pulled pork and mac and cheese.
2. My favorite beverage is Arnold Palmer half and half iced tea.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is baked ziti.
4. My favorite place to eat in Chapel Hill is Franklin Street Pizza and Pasta.
5. My favorite guilty pleasure food wise are Doritos.
