Kieran's moved to close defense and made a good impact for us in the fall. His footwork is good for that role.
We're getting him stronger in the weight room because he's got to get more physical to play down there.
He's got great feet, terrific stick skills and is great on ground balls.
General: Two-year letterman...6-3, 190-pound close defenseman who played pole his first two years at Carolina.
2011 (Sophomore): Saw a significantly increased role on the 2011 as a long-stick midfielder...played in all 16 games...had 11 ground balls and three caused turnovers...had a season-high three ground balls in first-round NCAA Tournament game versus Maryland...named to 2011 All-ACC Academic Men's Lacrosse Team...earned honors on 2011 spring Dean's List...a Rising Star in the Carolina Leadership Academy.
2010 (Freshman): Had a solid first season as a long stick midfield reserve for the Tar Heels...saw action in four games against Jacksonville, Bryant, Lehigh and Dartmouth...had a ground ball against Lehigh...named to 2009-10 ACC Academic Honor Roll...named to Dean's List in fall semester of freshman year with 3.4 GPA.
Prep: Graduated from the Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn. ...played football, basketball and lacrosse and captained all three of those sports...was coached in lacrosse there by Peter Newman...was a high school All-America selection as a junior and a senior...named All-Founder's League his junior and senior campaigns...winner of school's senior athlete award...was Westminster's outstanding rookie during his sophomore year...as a senior he was the team MVP and captured the ground ball award...was also the captain of the team that year...played for the North Team in the National Senior Showcase...played for TEAMITUP summer team in summer 2009 in the Gotham League and led team to championship...led lacrosse team to co-championship of Founder's League...was on the honor roll/Superus for all four years of high school...one of the six prefects chosen to run the student government at Westminster...was also a dorm prefect.
Community Service & Leadership: Carolina Leadership Academy Rising Star in 2010-11...delivered food and volunteered at the Carver Center in Port Chester, N.Y. ...also volunteered his time at a soup kitchen...at Carolina, he has volunteered with the 2nd and 7 Foundation and the ice cream cart at UNC Children's Hospital.

1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is competing for a national championship.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Breschi is his energy and love of the game.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is stick control.
4. My best friend on another college lacrosse team is Garrett Virtue (University of Vermont).
5. My greatest strength as a lacrosse player is ground balls.

1. Away from the lacrosse field and academic pursuits I like to spend time in New York City.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is MacGruber.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be golf.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is Grateful Dead.
Section #3 (Food and Beverage)
1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a tailgate spread that included hot dogs, burgers, pasta with pink basil sauce, salad, potato chips, Gatorades and Italian foot long heroes.
2. My favorite beverage is Welch's White Grape Juice.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is Birdies by Grandma Es.
4. My favorite place to eat in Chapel Hill is Sakura.
5. My favorite guilty pleasure food wise is Chipotle burritos.

1. If I possessed the gift of time travel I'd like to go to the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Gold Medal game.
2. My most prized personal possession is my computer.
3. If I could go to dinner with a famous person it would be Will Ferrell.

5. The most interesting person I've met at UNC is Cam Wood for his eating habits.
