General: Outstanding midfielder and two-year letter winner...played on the U.S. unsder-19 National Team following his freshman year at Carolina...one of the nation’s top defenders.
2000 Season: Started every game during his sophomore year at Carolina...was amongst the team’s leader with 31 ground balls and 43 takeaways...scored five goals, including a pair against Virginia in the ACC Tournament semifinals...had a season-high six takeaways against both Butler and Delaware...his top game for ground balls was Butler with seven...also had five ground balls in the overtime win over Navy...had five takeaways against Fairfield, Navy and Duke...served on the athletic department’s student-athlete advisory council.
1999 Season: One of the top freshman players in the nation in 1999...won the Jay Gallagher Award as the top freshman on the UNC squad...really grew into his role as UNC’s top defensive short stick midfielder...saw action in 14 games for the Tar Heels during the course of the season...started in the Penn game...scored three goals—two against Air Force and one against Denver...had his lone assist against Duke...had 28 ground balls and 18 takeaways on the season...his top ground ball game was five against Penn and his top game for takeaways was four against Air Force.
Prep: Was a football, wrestling and lacrosse star at Worthington Kilbourne High School...in football his team went to the state playoffs and was the OCC Champions...all-state selection in wrestling...in lacrosse, he was three times all-Ohio and two-time first team all-Midwest...was team captain his senior year and high school All-America...nominated for U.S. National Under-19 team membership.
