General: Comes from a long line of talented Crofton brothers who have excelled on the lacrosse field...has two brothers who played college lacrosse...Andy was an All-Ivy League selection at the University of Pennsylvania and Doug played at Harvard University...enters his senior year as one of the top attackers in the nation...led the Tar Heels in scoring with 51 points last season...started all 15 games for the Tar Heels in the attack unit last season...also started nine of Carolina's 15 games in 1998...with Chase Martin and Jeff Sonke, he leads one of the nation's most experienced attack units...one of the team's most accurate shooters...has scored on 41.7 percent of his shots during his Carolina career...has produced a total of 92 points over the last two seasons alone--41 in 1998 and 51 in 1999...played in the midfield as a prepster at Garden City High School but was converted to an attacker at Carolina.
1999 Season: Started all 15 Carolina games...had a career high six goals against Colgate in the season operner...finished the season with a total of 28 goals...had two seven point games--Colgate (6g, 1a) and Delaware (5g, 2a)...had four assists in the Loyola game...had four points against Butler and three points in nine other games...also had 23 assists, 16 ground balls and 4 takeaways... finished the season as Carolina's top scorer with a total of 51 points and top assist man with 23...scored on 43.1 percent of his shots last year...was named ACC Player of the Week once last year.
1998 Season: Saw action in all 15 Carolina games...started nine games...had a career high four ground balls against Ohio State to add to his season total of 19...also had 17 assists, made 24 of his 64 total shots on goal and had three takeaways...finished the season second on the team with 41 total points.
1997 Season: Played in 12 of the Tar Heels' 13 games in 1997...the only game he didn't play in was against Duke...started in the Heels' regular-season game at Virginia for his first career srart...scored seven goals in the last four games of the season and also had two assists during that stretch...finished the year with 24 shots, 11 goals, two assists, 13 points and eight ground balls...had a total of four goals in the first eight games in which he played...then had three goals, including a short-handed tally, against Delaware...had two goals and one assist against both VMI and Hofstra...ended the season with an excellent 45.8 shooting percentage.
Prep Days at Garden City: Played three years of lacrosse as a midfielder at Garden City High School...was the McCleery Award winner his junior season for being the team leader in goals...as a senior, he was named an honorable mention all-America and was also named to the all-County team...as a junior at GCHS, he was all-county and a member of the gold medal-winning Long Island Team at the Empire State Games.. member of the state championship team as a sophomore.
