Jimmy Bitter is just an extremely dynamic player. He's very similar to his brother in how dynamic a player he is.
He's a quarterback type of guy for the offense.
He's going to play a considerable amount whether he starts or not. He's going to be a huge contributor.
He can dodge to the cage. He's got tremendous vision, which I think is something that he adds to the table. His quickness and change of direction are incredible.
He's gaining more range on his shot. He's really worked in the off-season to improve his shot. I think that's something that we're excited about.
General: A 5-9, 160-pound attackman.
Prep: A graduate of the Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass., where he was coached by Chip Davis...a 2011 high school All-America...played in the National Under Armour All-America Game on July 2, 2011...as a senior he led Deerfield in scoring with 75 points on 52 goals and 23 assists...was hurt much of his junior year but had 15 goals and 16 assists...had a dynamic sophomore year with 20 goals and 31 assists...won the Stephen Lindsay Award as the most valuable attackman in Western New England Division I in 2011, a feat also accomplished by his brother Billy in 2007...the captain of the Deerfield team as a senior...was a three-time All-New England selection and the team's leading scorer as a sophomore and senior...Deerfield lost only two games in his career, winning the Western New England title his sophomore campaign, playing on a DA team which tied the school record for wins in a season with 16 in 2010 and leading another WNE title team in 2011 that finished 15-0...has been honored on the FCA National Team and the Long Island Under Armour Team...was an honor roll student at DA...played forward and midfield for DA soccer team...was captain of soccer team which made New England playoffs...was captain of DA basketball team as a point guard...voted co-MVP of hoops squad.
Personal: James Joseph Bitter is the son of Ward and Nancy Bitter...becomes the second member of his family to play for the Tar Heels, succeeding his brother Billy, who graduated from UNC in 2011...Jimmy is the youngest of the six Bitter siblings and grew up in Manhasset, N.Y., but now lives in Stowe, Vt. ...business administration major...ws born January 2, 1992 in Manhasset, N.Y. ...his father, Ward, played lacrosse at Boston College as did two sisters...besides Billy, who is now with the Charlotte team in the MLL, his other brothers played collegiately at Williams and the Naval Academy.

1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is the family atmosphere.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Breschi is his enthusiasm.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is my shot.
4. My best friends on another college lacrosse team are Bobby Osgood (Dartmouth), Willy Himler (Princeton) and Will Swindell (Brown).
5. My greatest strength as a lacrosse player is my hustle.
Section #2 (Jimmy's Interests)
1. Away from the lacrosse field and academic pursuits I like to spend time hanging out with friends.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is Happy Gilmore.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be basketball.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is Avicii.
5. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is skiing.
Section #3 (Food and Beverage)
1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a tailgate spread that included chicken parmesan, baked ziti and chocolate chip cookies.
2. My favorite beverage is coconut water.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is my mom's brown rice.
4. My favorite place to eat in Chapel Hill is Lantern.
5. My favorite guilty pleasure food wise is Chinese food.

1. If I possessed the gift of time travel I'd like to go when MC was in college.
2. My most prized personal possession is my Mac.
