Men’s Soccer Wins Third Straight, 3-1, At Boston College

NEWTON, MASS. – The University of North Carolina men's soccer team won its third in a row with a comprehensive 3-1 win at Boston College on Saturday afternoon. Joschi Schelb delivered a first-half brace and Riley Berge added the third midway through the second half to lead the Tar Heels to victory.
Schelb, who has been on fire of late, scored in the third minute to put the Heels in front. Boston College leveled in the 20th minute, but it was Schelb again just two minutes later, putting UNC ahead at the break. Schelb has scored in eight of UNC's 10 matches and has six in Carolina's last five matches. Luca Nikolai assisted on both of Schelb's goals.
Berge picked up his second goal of the year after pouncing on a corner kick that was bouncing around in the box.
The Heels are now 5-2-3 (1-1-2 ACC) on the season, while Boston College fell to 5-3-2 (1-3-1 ACC).

How It Happened
- 3' – Joschi Schelb got an early goal, finishing a cross from Luca Nikolai that Ryan Zellefrow smartly dumbied, opening the space for Schelb to beat the keeper.
- 10' – After a ball bounced around in the box, it settled at Schelb's feet and he turned and fired but it was blocked.
- 16' – Schelb tested the keeper on a free kick centrally outside the box, forcing a diving save to his low right.
- 20' – BC got in behind the defense after a long ball and equalized through Russell Brown.
- 22' – UNC answered right back as Schelb secured his brace, chopping past a defender and beating the keeper to the far post.
- 58' – Schelb served in a corner and after the ball bounced around in the box, Riley Berge was there to bury and give UNC a two-goal advantage.
Tar Heel Tidbits
- Joschi Schelb's goals were his eighth and ninth of the season and the 28th and 29th of his career. He has now scored in eight of 10 games this season and has tallied in each of the last five games.
- Luca Nikolai assisted on both of Schelb's first-half goals, his third and fourth of the season and the 16th and 17th of his career.
- Riley Berge's goal was his second of the season and the third of his career.
