Denigan & Devey Named To MAC Hermann Trophy Mid-Season Watch List
September 30, 2026 | Women's Soccer
SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches and the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches unveiled the 2026 MAC Hermann Trophy Mid-Season Watch List Wednesday afternoon. Summer Denigan and Bella Devey represent Carolina women's soccer on the list.
Denigan is no stranger to national recognition. Last season, the midfielder capped off her standout career at Georgia as a MAC Hermann Semifinalist and First Team All-America honoree. She started this season on the Preseason MAC Hermann Midfielders Watch List and ranked No. 4 in the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Top 100 Rankings. Denigan has continued to be a consistent presence for the Tar Heels in the midfield, recording eight goals, four assists, and 20 points.
Devey has continued to have a breakout sophomore campaign, becoming one of the nation's best attackers. The sophomore ranks third in the NCAA and second in the ACC for total goals with 12. Devey has recorded multiple goals in four matches, including a first-half hat trick early in the season. Her consistent, dominant performance on the pitch has earned the Utah native multiple accolades this season. Devey was named Preseason All-ACC and has since been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week twice while making the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week in August.
The Hermann Trophy is the nation's highest individual honor in collegiate soccer, recognizing the National Player of the Year as voted by head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
The mid-season watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-America Committee from a pool of the top-performing players during the first half of this season. The list was narrowed from 62 players on the preseason watch list to 30. It includes 24 players from the preseason list and six new additions, including Devey.
On December 4, 15 players will be named semifinalists for the Hermann Trophy following the conclusion of All-America voting. From that list, head coaches will place votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced January 8, 2027, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
