Maltby & Zampardo Qualify For NCAA Doubles Championships

CARY, N.C. – Carolina women's tennis continued Main Draw action at the ITA All-American Championships Friday afternoon. No. 8 Susanna Maltby/Maddy Zampardo highlighted the day for the Tar Heels after clinching a spot in the 2026 NCAA Doubles Championships later this fall.
In singles, No. 21 Tatum Evans picked up two wins in the consolation draw. The senior started the day with a three-set win over her opponent from Georgia. In her second match of the day, Evans topped No. 34 Ashton Bowers from Auburn in straight sets. Evans improves to 6-1 this season.
Maltby/Zampardo were the lone doubles pair to play for the Tar Heels in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The duo downed the 42nd ranked team from Baylor to secure the win and punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships. The Carolina pair remains unbeaten this season with a 6-0 record.
In the consolation draw of doubles, Theadora Rabman and Aya Manning picked up a top 10 win to advance to the next round. The Tar Heels earned a gritty win decided by a third set tiebreak over No. 7 Bowers/Esposito from Auburn.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association will hold their 43rd annual All-American Championship this coming week. The tournament continues to highlight the nation's top tennis players while providing the athletes an opportunity to clinch a spot at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
Ten singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists). Meanwhile, five doubles teams (5) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists, consolation champion).
