Women’s Tennis Finishes Strong Showing On Opening Weekend

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina women's tennis wrapped up tournament play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational and Milwaukee Tennis Classic Sunday afternoon. In Chapel Hill, no. 21 Tatum Evans and Susanna Maltby highlighted the day winning their respective flights in the tournament. Anna Frey fought to claim the singles championship in Milwaukee while her and Alanis Hamilton also claimed the doubles title.
Kitty Harrison Invitational
UNC concluded the Kitty Harrison Invitational with a final round of singles matches. Overall, the Tar Heels turned in seven wins.
No. 21 Tatum Evans and Susanna Maltby capped off an undefeated weekend in main draw after winning their flights. Evans picked up another ranked win over no. 48 Katie Rolls en route to winning the Navy flight. Maltby claimed the title in the Ram flight after topping her opponent in three sets.

Carolina started Sunday off in the final round of doubles action. No. 14 Hamilton/Frey cruised to a 6-1 victory over their opponents from Purdue to claim the doubles championship title.
It was an all-Carolina singles championship match as Anna Frey and Alanis Hamilton squared off. Frey opened the match with a huge first set, 6-2. Hamilton bounced back to take the second forcing a third set tiebreaker. Frey went on to take the tiebreak and match securing the singles championship just after winning doubles.
