Six MLAX Players Named USA Lacrosse All-America

SPARKS, Md. – Six North Carolina men's lacrosse players, highlighted by Brady Wambach's first-team All-America selection, were named to USA Lacrosse All-America teams.
In addition to Wambach, Owen Duffy (second team), Ty English (second team), Dominic Pietramala (honorable mention), Mason Szewczyk (honorable mention) and Peter Thomann (honorable mention), were named in the announcement.
Wambach, the ACC's Co-Defensive Player of the Year, has won 263 faceoffs and a single-season record 167 ground balls. The Pittsford, N.Y. native is third nationally in faceoff winning percentage (.668), leading the country in ground balls per game (10.4).
Wambach has five games of 20-or-more faceoff wins. Aa two-time All-ACC honoree, Wambach has also scored 10 goals and dished out four assists this season, both career highs.
A 2026 Tewaaraton Award finalist, Duffy leads Carolina in assists (39) and points (69), ranking second in goals (30). Duffy is one of five ACC players this spring with 60-plus points, setting his career high in assists and points. A product of East Quogue, N.Y., Duffy has dished out three-or-more assists in eight games this season, highlighted by a career-best six helpers in the ACC semifinal win over Syracuse, and has posted five-or-more points in seven contests.
Duffy is the fourth Tar Heel in program history named a finalist for the award, and the fifth time Carolina has posted representation among finalists, joining Jed Prossner (2004), Marcus Holman (2013) and Chris Gray (2021, 2022). The junior is looking to become the first UNC men's player to win the award and the second at Carolina to collect top honors, joining Chloe Humphrey in 2025.
English has five goals, 37 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. The Burlington, Ontario product has five games of four-or-more ground balls, highlighted by a season-high five ground balls in ranked wins versus Penn and Penn State. Additionally, the graduate student has recorded three games of two caused turnovers this spring.
Earning ACC honors for the second-straight season, Pietramala leads the Tar Heels this season with 43 goals, while ranking second with 50 points. Scoring a goal in 14 games this season, Pietramala has eight games with three-or-more goals.
The Lutherville, Md. product enters this weekend's NCAA Tournament just five away from tying UNC's career goals record.
Szewczyk's 16 goals ranks fourth on the Tar Heels, leading the midfield unit. The sophomore has posted 10 assists this spring, second best on the team. A native of Naperville, Ill., Szewczyk has scored a goal in 10 games, with five multi-goal efforts this spring.
A longstick midfielder who's started four contests at close defense, Thomann has recorded 46 ground balls and a team-best 19 caused turnovers. The Merrick, N.Y. product has posted multiple ground balls in 15 games, including six games with four-or-more ground balls. The redshirt-sophomore has two-plus caused turnovers seven times entering the NCAA Tournament, with back-to-back three caused turnover performances in nonconference play.
Carolina opens the NCAA Tournament this Saturday, hosting UAlbany on Saturday at noon.
