Baseball Completes Sweep Of Pitt With 7-3 Victory, Hits 40-Win Mark
May 10, 2026 | Baseball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – On a sunny senior day at Boshamer Stadium, one of the honorees led the way as Colin Hynek's three RBI helped Carolina baseball to a 7-3 win over Pitt on Sunday afternoon.
Â
The No. 2 Tar Heels (40-9-1, 20-7 ACC) completed their first conference home sweep of the season to reach the 40-win mark for the third year in a row and 27th time in program history. It is the fourth time to 40 under head coach Scott Fobes in his six seasons at the helm.
Â
The victory is also the 20th ACC win of the year for Carolina, who hit that benchmark for the 10th time in their history. UNC is the only school in conference history to hit the double digit mark.
Â
Folger Boaz got the start and put together one of his most efficient outings of the season. In his 4.1 innings the junior lefty racked up eight strikeouts, his highest total of the last two seasons. He got four of the punchouts looking, tied for his most this year.
Â
Freshman Caden Glauber continued along his historic rookie season, improving to 7-0 with 3.1 frames of shutout work with two strikeouts and only one hit. His classmate Jackson Rose came in to finish off the game and picked up his first career save.
Â
More to come.
