Three Named To All-ACC Men’s Lacrosse Team, Wambach Named Co-Defensive Player Of The Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three North Carolina men's lacrosse players, highlighted by Brady Wambach's Co-Defensive Player of the Year honor, collected Atlantic Coast Conference honors, the league announced Tuesday evening.
In addition to Wambach, the attackmen duo of Owen Duffy and Dominic Pietramala earned spots on the All-ACC Team.
One of the country's best faceoff specialists, Wambach has won 238 faceoffs and collected 157 ground balls this spring. The Pittsford, N.Y. native is fourth nationally in faceoff winning percentage (.684), leading the country in ground balls per game (11.2).
Wambach has won the faceoff battle in 13 of 14 games this season, with five games of 20-or-more faceoff wins. Now a two-time All-ACC honoree, Wambach has also scored eight goals and dished out four assists this season, both career highs.
A three-time All-ACC attackman, Duffy leads Carolina in assists (33) and points (61), ranking second in goals (28). The junior is one of five ACC players this spring with 50-plus points, tying his career high in points. A product of East Quogue, N.Y., Duffy has dished out three-or-more assists in seven games this season, posting five-or-more points in six contests.
Earning league honors for the second-straight season, Pietramala leads the Tar Heels this season with 41 goals, while ranking second with 47 points. Scoring a goal in 12 games during the regular season, Pietramala has eight games with three-or-more goals.
The Lutherville, Md. product's 41 goals this spring is tied atop the ACC standings, entering this weekend's conference tournament just seven away from tying UNC's career goals record.
Carolina will be the No. 2 seed in this weekend's ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship, meeting third-seeded Syracuse in the semifinals. Opening faceoff between the Tar Heels and Orange is set for 8 PM on Friday from Charlotte, televised on ACC Network.
