Men's Golf's Goldman A Finalist For Top Coaching Award
April 15, 2026 | Men's Golf
North Carolina's Noah Goldman is a finalist for the 2026 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade Golf Company.
The Strickland Award is presented annually to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or NJCAA assistant coach who, among other things, has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
Goldman is one of five Division I finalists with Dustin Groves of Virginia, Jace Long of LSU, Gustavo Morantes of Arkansas and James Vargas of Texas Tech. Arrianna Custodio of Cal State East Bay (NCAA Division II), Troy Nielsen of Cal State San Bernardino (NCAA II) and David Rosenbaum of Meridian (NJCAA Division II) are the non-DI finalists.
Goldman is a finalist for the fourth time in the last six years (third straight time as a Tar Heel). Thus far this season, his third on staff with Andrew DiBitetto, the Tar Heels have won three tournamenta, including two in a row heading into next week's ACC Championship. Ranked No. 11 in the NCAA's Scoreboard/Clippd poll, three different Tar Heels have won individual championships this season.
Over the last three seasons, UNC has 12 tournament victories, seven PING All-East Region, four Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars and four PING All-Americas.
Last year, David Ford set numerous single-season and career school records, won multiple National Player-of-the-Year awards, including the Jack Nicklaus Award, and became a four-time All-ACC and All-America honoree.
UNC has won the award twice – DiBitetto in 2016 and Matt Clark in 2022.
