April 12, 2026 | Men's Golf
Niall Sheils Donegan won his first individual college title and the University of North Carolina triumphed for the second straight week and third time this season with a 20-stroke victory Sunday in the 2026 Tar Heel Intercollegiate at UNC Finley Golf Club.
Â
Sheils Donegan, a junior playing in his first season with UNC, shot his seventh-consecutive round in the 60s with a 67 today to win by two strokes over his Tar Heel teammate Grant Roscich. Donegan shot 64-67-67 to finish 12-under 198, the 10th sub-200 54-hole total ever by a Tar Heel.
Â
It was the second tournament in a row that Sheils Donegan posted a collegiate-best finish. He placed third last week at 14-under 202 as the Tar Heels won the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational.
Â
Roscich, who tied UNC's all-time 18-hole record and set the new UNC Finley GC record with a second-round 61 on Saturday, placed second with rounds of 68-61-71 for 10-under 200, both career bests for strokes and score to par. Â
Â
Carson Bertagnole (66-70-69) was seventh at 5-under 205, and Sihan Sandhu (69-68-70) tied for 10th at 3-under 210 as the Tar Heels placed four starters in the top 10 and ties.
Â
Carolina shot 267-264-277 for 32-under 808, the Tar Heels' third-fewest strokes ever in a 54-hole tournament.
Â
It was the Tar Heels 27th under head coach Andrew DiBitetto.
Â
Duke placed second at 12-under 828, while UNC's B team had the third-best result at 11-under 829. Officially, Texas A&M placed third at 8 under par, while Nebraska and UNCW tied for fourth at 2 under.
Â
Following Saturday's 36 holes, when five teams shot below par in each of the first two rounds, only three teams bettered par on Sunday, with Carolina's 3-under the low round of the day. Duke (-2) and UNCW (-1) also beat par over the final 18 holes.
Â
Carolina's B team shot 1-over today.
Â
Hampton Roberts (67-68-69) finished sixth 6-under 204, Ethan Paschal (67-69-71) tied for 10th at 3-under 207 and Keaton Vo (70-68-72) tied for 20th at even-par 210. Misha Golod's 69 was one of only 16 rounds in the 60s today.
Â
Sheils Donegan is the third Tar Heel to win this season. Bertagnole won in the fall at Notre Dame and Sandhu was a playoff winner last week in Augusta.
