Wambach Named ACC Player Of The Week
March 24, 2026 | Men's Lacrosse
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Carolina men's lacrosse faceoff specialist Brady Wambach has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defense Player of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Wambach posted 21 faceoff wins, tying his career best, also adding 16 ground balls in the Tar Heels' 12-11 victory over No. 19 Army last weekend.
Saturday was the fifth time in Wambach's career posting 20-or-more faceoff wins. After starting the game 2-6 from the stripe, the Pittsford, N.Y. product rattled off 17-straight faceoff wins. Additionally, the junior's 16 ground balls were just one shy of his previously set UNC single-game ground ball record, and the seventh time in 2026 posting 10-plus ground balls.
This season, Carolina's .667 and Wambach's .699 faceoff winning percentage is the nation's best, as Wambach also leads the country with 11.9 ground balls per game.
Up next, the Tar Heels meet No. 3 Harvard on Sunday at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md. Opening faceoff between Carolina and the Crimson is set for 1 PM.
