Tar Heel Tidbits
- Carolina and Cal will play for the fifth time in series history with UNC holding an 2-1-1 advantage. The two sides met earlier this season in Berkeley and drew, 2-2.
- A Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch list member, Schelb has posted 15 goals and two assists in UNC's 15 matches. He's posted hat tricks in two of the Tar Heels' last three home games and has scored in seven of the last 10 matches overall. His 15 goals are tied for second in the nation, just three behind Washington's Zach Ramsey, and his 32 points are also second nationally. Schelb's 15 goals are the most for a Tar Heel in a season since Andy Craven scored 15 in 2014.
- Luca Nikolai was drafted by NYCFC, but made the decision to return to Carolina to finish off his college career. Nikolai currently has four goals and 10 assists on the year. His 10 assists are tied for the league lead and are tied for fifth nationally.
- Ryan Zellefrow has been a key cog in UNC's attack. As a creative midfielder, he's posted four goals and six assists for 14 points, which ranks third on the team.
- Bertil Rygaard Hansen has been wreaking havoc on defenders with his pace and he's turned that into a goal and seven assists on the year.
- Alan Rutkowksi and the Heels' defense have posted five clean sheets this season including two in the last four matches.
