October 2, 2026 | Men's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina men's soccer standout Joschi Schelb has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, the organization announced on Friday. Schelb earned his place on the watch list after scoring seven goals in nine games for the Tar Heels.
Schelb, a transfer from Rutgers and a native of Freiburg, Germany, has made his mark in Chapel Hill since arriving last spring. He found the back of the net in each of UNC's first two matches and then followed with a tally at Cal. Schelb's caught fire recently having produced a goal in each of Carolina's last four matches. He also notched his first assist in UNC's last match, a slick square ball for Faraji Ramani's first career goal.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. It is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the legendary St. Louis, Mo., businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League, the first pro soccer league in the United States which became the North American Soccer League. He was inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.
