Softball Falls To No. 22 Liberty

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC softball fell by a score of 3-1 to No. 22 Liberty on Wednesday night.
Liberty plated the first run in the second inning on a sac-fly. In the bottom half, Carlie Myrtle responded with her ninth bomb of the season. She sent it to deep center field to tie the game at 1-1.
The Flames tacked on a second run in the third on an RBI groundout.
In the fifth, the Tar Heels mounted a rally, getting second and third with just one out but were unable to push any runs across.
In the sixth, UNC had a runner on second with two outs, but Liberty made a great play in center to keep the Tar Heels from tying things up.
The Flames added a third run in the seventh and the Tar Heels were unable to make a comeback in the bottom half.
This marks the first time all season that the Tar Heels have lost back-to-back games.
UNC now turns its attention to a home series against Louisville that starts on Friday at 5 p.m.
