Softball Uses Gem From Frost And Five Homers To Split Doubleheader

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina softball split a double header on Saturday afternoon. They dropped the first game to No. 22 Arizona State 15-3 and bounced back with a 12-2 win over Marist.
Game one saw the Tar Heels respond to a leadoff home run from the Sun Devils with an Emily LeGette two run home run to take a 2-1 lead. After that though the Arizona State took over and ended up winning 15-3.

Game two featured a lineup change; Shelby Barbee moved to short for the first time in her career and Michele Tarpey moved to third base for the first time this season.
The lineup change brought some some pop with the Tar Heels scoring seven runs in the second inning which featured back to back homers from Shelby Barbee and MC Eaton.
Eaton's home run was her 10th which gave UNC its fourth hitter with double digit home runs which has only happened once (2015) in program history before now.
Rayna Blackwell belted a homer in the third for her sixth of the season.
Kendall Frost was outstanding, throwing a complete game while striking out six Red Fox hitters allowing just one earned run.

- The LeGette homer was the 70th home run of the season for the Tar Heels
- Sanaa Thompson's home run extended her hit streak to 14 games and on-base streak to 17
- Lexie Roberts extended her on-base streak to 14 games and hit streak to six games
