Both DMR Squads Earn All-America Honors; Men Finish As National Runner-Up

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - North Carolina track and field opened day one of the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championship with two All-America relay honors.
Makayla Paige (2:01.36) opened up the 2025 NCAA Championships for Carolina by punching her ticket to the 800m finals tomorrow. The senior won her heat in a photo finish, winning by .06 seconds. She finished in 3rd and will race tomorrow in the finals at 3:30 p.m. EST.
The women's distance medley relay team (11:02.57), composed of Taryn Parks, Delea Martins, Ella Auderset, and Brynn Brown, battled fierce competition in the loaded field, finishing ninth and earning Second-Team All-America honors.
For the fourth time in five years, the Tar Heels' DMR team (9:17.17) earned All-America status as they finished as the national runners-up while also setting a school record. This year's NCAA DMR squad was made up of Parker Wolfe, Nick Steed, Andrew Regnier and Ethan Strand.
The men's squad is tied for 10th with eight points.
Strand, Wolfe, and Colton Sands will race in the 3000m tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. EST, and Tommy Kitchell will compete in the men's shot put at 5:00 p.m. EST.
