Sophia Kovacs Named ACC Fencer Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Redshirt senior Sophia Kovacs earned her first fencing accolade of the season when the Atlantic Coast Conference named her ACC Women's Fencer Of The Week on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Kovacs went 15-0 at the Begint Classic, helping Carolina to a 4-1 record and picking up a ranked win against No. 15 MIT.
Kovacs took down No. 11 Temple, beating Lauren Johnson, who finished 15th at the 2023-24 NCAA Championships. The two-time All-American also swept Boston College, Air Force, and NYU.Â
