Carolina Hosts Dick Taylor Challenge On Friday And Saturday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina track and field is set to host the Dick Taylor Challenge at the Eddie Smith House on Jan. 17 and 18. The meet is named in honor of Richard "Dick" Taylor (UNC Class of 1950), who passed away in 2022. Taylor was an NCAA Division I hurdles record holder as a Tar Heel and later a member of the UNC System Board of Governors.

The competition is bringing local competition as the Tar Heels welcome Duke, NC Central, High Point, Campbell, East Carolina to Chapel Hill. Live Results can be found on Durham Striders.

Last time at the Dick Taylor Challenge: The Tar Heels won eight events at last year's Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge.

Last time out: Carolina sent a small group of distance runners to Boston to open the indoor season in December. Ethan Strand set the NCAA record for the fastest 3000m time in the season opener. Parker Wolfe followed right behind, clocking the second-fastest time in college history.
