Men's Golf Finishes 7th In Vegas

Austin Greaser and Peter Fountain combined to shoot 5 under par but the North Carolina men's golf team dropped to seventh place after the final round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Tuesday at the Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Greaser (71-79-69) made six birdies and shot 3-under in the final round to finish tied for 29th at 3-over 219, the best finish among the Tar Heels. Fountain (71-79-70) shot 2-under 70 today and was one of two Tar Heels to tie for 34th place at 4-over 220.
Maxwell Ford (68-73-79), whose 68 Saturday was Carolina's low round of the tournament, also tied for 34th.
David Ford (73-71-77) tied for 41st at 5 over and Dylan Menante (77-72-78) was 62nd at 11 over.
Oklahoma shot 3-under 281 today to win the title with an 8-under-par three-day total. The Sooners were three strokes better than Auburn and 10 clear of Texas.
The Tar Heels finished seventh at 8-over 872.
Florida's Ian Gilligan (67-71-70) won the individual title at 8-under 208. Gilligan edged OU's Jase Summy by a shot.
The Tar Heels return to competition March 9-11 at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
