CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Two first half goals, sealed by a late score in the match lifted No. 7 North Carolina (7-1-3, 3-1-0 ACC) over College of Charleston (7-4-1, 2-1-1 CAA) 3-0, in non-conference action Tuesday night at Dorrance Field.
How It Happened
• Carolina jumped out to a fast start, as Andrew Czech's cross found Tate Johnson, using the left foot to find the bottom corner in the ninth minute.
• The Tar Heels continued the offensive pressure in the 14th and 18th minute, as Luke Hille and Martin Vician had attempts stopped.
• Just moments later in the 22nd frame, College of Charleston's Chris Elliott had the Cougars' lone first half shot attempt, with Andrew Cordes making the save.
• In the 24th minute, Hille's shot attempt was saved by the Cougars's goalkeeper, with Vician collecting the rebound and scoring to push Carolina's lead to 2-0.
• Defender Charlie Harper had back-to-back head attempts halted in the 32nd and 36th.
• Opening the second half, Carolina had four shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes.
• The Cougars threatened in the 70th, as Ty Nero's header off a corner feed was stopped.
