Women's Tennis Takes Care of Wake, 5-2

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Anika Yarlagadda won the deciding singles match to send No. 1 North Carolina to a 5-2 victory at No. 26 Wake Forest on Friday evening in an Atlantic Coast Conference women's tennis match from the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
North Carolina is now 20-0 on the season and 9-0 against the league, while the Demon Deacons fall to 12-7 overall and 4-4 in the ACC. UNC has notched a 20-match winning streak for the fifth time in the last eight years dating back to 2015 and extends its ACC regular season winning streak to 43 matches in a row.
The Tar Heels grabbed an early lead over the Deacs with a pair of 6-2 wins on doubles courts one and three. No. 1 Elizabeth Scotty and Fiona Crawley took out No. 8 Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth, before Reilly Tran and Carson Tanguilig clinched the point from court three.
No. 10 Tran and No. 34 Crawley won in straight sets to catapult Carolina to a 3-0 lead. Wake Forest picked up its first point on court six, however, Anika Yarlagadda won the deciding point in the match to extend the Tar Heels win streak to 19 in a row over the Demon Deacons.
No. 12 Cameron Morra wrapped up the evening with a three-set win over No. 48 Carolyn Campana to put an exclamation on the 5-2 Tar Heel victory.
Carolina visits No. 2 NC State on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Wolfpack fell 4-3 to Duke on Friday evening in Raleigh.
