Women's Tennis Beats No. 9 Miami, 6-1

CORAL GABLES, FLA.—No. 1 North Carolina earned a 6-1 road victory over the No. 9 Miami Hurricanes in ACC women's tennis action on Friday at Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Tar Heels improve to 18-0 on the season and 7-0 within league play. The Hurricanes fall to 12-2 overall and 6-2 in the conference. In addition, Carolina extends its winning streak over Miami to 14 matches in a row.
The No.1 talented tandem of Fiona Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty shined as they put the Heels on the path to securing the doubles point, winning on court one 6-3. The senior duo of Cameron Morra and Alle Sanford would clinch the point on court two, winning 6-3.
Junior Anika Yarlagadda's victory in straight sets helped further the Tar Heels advantage, winning on court six 6-1 and 6-2.
No. 52 Daevenia Achong of Miami would get the upset victory over No. 16 Elizabeth Scotty, winning in straight sets 6-4 and 7-5 on court two. However, Carolina would respond with No. 33 Carson Tanguilig carrying on with her momentum from her first set tiebreak victory to win 6-4, while No. 10 Reilly Tran would win a tie breaker to clinch the match for the Tar Heels.
No. 34 Fiona Crawley came out on top in three sets on court four, No. 12 Cameron Morra won in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to wrap up an almost perfect day for the Tar Heels.
The Tar Heels will visit Florida State on Sunday at noon.
