CHAPEL HILL - No. 3 North Carolina equaled the program record with its 50th straight home victory after earning a pair of dual match victories over in-state foes Elon and Appalachian State on Saturday.
North Carolina (2-0) opened its dual match season with a 7-0 victory over Elon (0-1) and wrapped up a full day from the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center's indoor courts with a 6-1 win over the Mountaineers (0-1).
No. 7 Reilly Tran, No. 13 Carson Tanguilig, No. 19 Fiona Crawley and Sophia Patel all recorded two singles wins on the day, while No. 57 Anika Yarlagadda, Kacie Harvey, Elizabeth Scotty and Sara McClure each added a singles victory.
McClure rallied from down a set and trailed 4-1 in the second, before storming back to win 6-4 and 10-8 in the super breaker.
In doubles, the sixth-ranked tandem of Morra and Tanguilig and No. 34 Alle Sanford and Tran each posted a pair of victories, while No. 1 Scotty and Crawley had a 6-0 shutout against the Phoenix.
The 50 consecutive home wins was first set between 2014-17. Carolina will look to set a new program standard on Tuesday with another doubleheader against East Carolina at 2 p.m. and Campbell at 6 p.m.
