Carolina Hits The Road For ACC Battle At Wake
October 17, 2019 | Field Hockey
The top-ranked North Carolina field hockey team is set to play its third consecutive road game this Friday, but this time the trip will be a short one. The Tar Heels travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face No. 20 Wake Forest in a 6 p.m. Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at Kentner Stadium.
UNC is 12-0 overall and 4-0 in ACC play. Wake is 6-7 overall (0-3 ACC).
The Tar Heels are coming off a weekend trip to New York in which they played back-to-back games, winning at Syracuse last Saturday and Albany on Sunday. Following Friday's trip, UNC plays out the rest of the regular season at home, hosting Liberty on Sunday (Oct. 20), Boston College on Oct. 25, Old Dominion Oct. 27 and Saint Joseph's Nov. 3.
Carolina leads the series with Wake Forest 53-21-4, but the Tar Heels fell in their last game in Winston-Salem, 3-1 on Sept. 8, 2017. They'll hope to change the outcome on this trip, and also hope it's not their only visit to Kentner Stadium this fall: Wake Forest is the site of this year's NCAA semifinals and finals, and the Tar Heels will be seeking their 11th straight final four trip.
