
No. 12 Penn State Downs No. 6 Tar Heels

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The sixth-ranked University of North Carolina field hockey team saw its record fall to 3-3 on the season Sunday with a 2-1 loss to No. 12 Penn State. On a rainy afternoon at Bigler Field, the Nittany Lions improved to 4-0.
Penn State scored twice in the first half, despite trailing UNC 10-6 on shots and 7-3 on penalty corners. Senior midfielder Meredith Keller scored an unassisted goal with less than three minutes remaining in the game to put UNC on the scoreboard. The goal was her first of the season, the 11th of her career.
For the game, Carolina led 17-12 in shots on goal and 10-5 on penalty corners.
UNC returns to action this weekend with two home games at Francis E. Henry Stadium. The Tar Heels host No. 2 Old Dominion Saturday at 1 p.m. and No. 9 Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
