CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Seventh-ranked North Carolina got a goal in the fourth minute of play from David Testo and held on the rest of the way to shutout No. 20 South Carolina, 1-0, in college men's soccer action on Friday night at Fetzer Field. Testo scored his goal less than four minutes into the game, drilling a shot into the lower right corner of the net off a pass from Chris Leitch at the 3:52 mark.
Testo, a native of Arden, N.C., who transferred to UNC from South Carolina after the 2000 season, scored his ninth goal of the season, tying him with Ryan Kneipper for the team lead.
The game was the final regular-season home game for UNC seniors Danny Jackson, Leitch, Michael Ueltschey and Noz Yamauchi.
With the win, Carolina improves to 15-3 this season. South Carolina falls to 10-4-2. The win was UNC's second in a row over USC after six straight losses to the Gamecocks.
