CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-Old Dominion scored with 25 seconds remaining in Saturday's field hockey game to hand North Carolina its first loss of the season, 1-0. ODU's Laura Steadman capped a defensive battle with the game's only goal, seconds before the end of regulation. Both second-ranked UNC and third-ranked ODU now have 5-1 records.
"Hopefully, we'll learn from this game," UNC coach Karen Shelton said. "I felt good about the way we played today. We followed the gameplan defensively and did a good job there, but we have to do a better job offensively."
