2003: In indoor - National Champion as part of the Distance Medley Relay Team...Won DMR national title with a time of 11:00.20...Ran anchor leg of the 4x400 realay team (Gainey, Flomo, Schmidt, Nelms) that broke a 11-year old Carolina record with a time of 3:35.01..Gainey's split in the record-breaking relay was 51.80....All-america in the 4x400m relay...Won the 200M (24.27) at the ACC Championships... Also won the 200M at the Carolina Fats Times and NC Big 12 with times of 24.43 and 24.74 respectively...Sixth-place finish at the ACC Championships in the 60M (7.61). In outdoor -Finished third in the 200M (23.79) at the ACC Championships...Also finished fourth in the 100M (11.82) at the ACC Championships...Third-place finish at the NCAA Regionals in the 400M (52.71)...26th overall at the NCAA Championships in the 400M (54.22)...Won the Charlotte Invitational in the 400M (53.21).
2002: In indoor, All-ACC in the 200-meter and All-America in the DMR ... Successful at ACC Championship, placing fourth in the 60-meters (7.53), taking third in the 200-meter (24.49), finishing 12th in the long jump and setting an American record in the DMR (10:59.76) ... DMR team won the Championship of America at the Penn Relays ... Had three Top 5 finishes at the 5 Team Meet ... In outdoor, ran 100-meter in 11.51 in the ACC Championship preliminaries to set a PR ... Placed fourth at ACC Championship in 100-meter (11.67), fifth in 200-meter and ninth in the long jump (18-10) ... Successful at the UNC Invitational, winning the 100-meter, finishing runner-up in the 200-meter and placing fourth in the long jump.
2001: In indoor, had a standout freshman season with ten top-five finishes ... Placed second at the ACC Championships in the 60-meters (7.53) and 200-meter (24.08) ... Began the season with a second place finish in 200-meter and the 60-meters at UNC with a PR of 7.49 ... In outdoor, posted best time of the season in the ACC Championship preliminaries with an 11.64 in the 100-meter and went on to place second overall ... Finished fifth overall at the ACC Championships in the 200-meter with a time of 23.78 ... Posted a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championship in the long jump.
