The Tar Heels And Charlotte Play Two On Saturday

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The North Carolina Tar Heels and Charlotte split a pair of scrimmages on Saturday afternoon at a sweltering Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels won the first scrimmage handily before dropping a 6-5 decision in the nightcap.
Game I:
Offensive Highlights:Â Jamie Laskofski was the standout at the plate as he hit for the cycle, which was highlighted by a 404-foot homer to right. CJ Egrie, who doubled, was 3-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Will Myhand's three singles lead to a 3-5 effort with two RBI and one run scored.
Devin Russell's 365-foot Grand Slam Homer was part of a 2-4 effort with five RBI and one run scored. Harrison Ailshie ripped a 400-foot homer as he was 2-4 with one RBI and four runs scored. Erik Paulsen doubled on the way to a 2-2 day at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored .Gavin Gallaher was the other player with multiple base hits as he went 2-5 that included a double.
Pitching Highlights:Â Jimmy Voorhies started with Major Osbolt, Joey Ruller and Sean Hurley throwing in relief. Voorhies gave up one run on one hit in 3.0 innings while striking out five and walking one. Osbolt gave up one run in 2.0 innings.
Ruller tossed 2.0 scoreless innings by giving up one hit and striking out four while walking none. Hurley capped off the scrimmage by retiring the side in order in his one inning.
Game II:
Offensive Highlights: Derek Houston lead the Tar Heel attack in Game II where he doubled twice as he was 3-4 with three RBI and on run scored. Jadyn Nunez was the only other player with multiple base hits as he was 2-3 at the plate. Blaize Johnson's double was the other extra-base hit.
Pitching Highlights:Â Â Cameron Tarkenton, Preston Crowl, Scott Doran, Ryan Smith, Tim Tyler, Boston Flannery, Nick Rumbley and Rhett Britt all saw action. Tarkenton gave up one run in his 2.0 innings as he struck out three while giving up no walks.
Flannery, Rumbley, and Britt each threw a scoreless inning with each one recording two strikeouts and one walk.
