Baseball Hires Eric McKibban As Director Of Sports Performance

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina baseball announced the addition of Eric McKibban to its staff on Thursday, bringing him to Chapel Hill as the program's new director of sports performance.

"This is an incredible honor to join the North Carolina baseball program," McKibban said. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for the tradition, reputation, and standards that have been established here and I'm incredibly grateful to be a part of it. I want to thank Coach Forbes and his staff for giving my family and me the opportunity to join the UNC baseball family. I'm excited to get to work, get to know all of the players and staff, and contribute to North Carolina's continued success."

McKibban comes to Chapel Hill after serving in a similar role for five years for Carolina alum Robert Woodard and the Charlotte baseball program. He also worked with the 49ers' softball team, helping both squads to the NCAA postseason four times in his tenure.

The Indianapolis native played baseball for the University of Evansville from 2012-16, where he received his bachelor's degree in exercise science. He would go on to a graduate program at the University of Central Florida, earning his master's degree in kinesiology in 2019.

"Eric brings a proven track record of developing baseball athletes at a high level. His expertise and approach were exactly what we were looking for in this role. We know his addition will continue to elevate our player development initiatives."

McKibban is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and the National Sports Performance Association as a Certified Speed & Agility Coach (CSAC). Prior to joining the 49ers, he spent two years working for Premier Pitching as the Director of Strength & Conditioning.
