Heels Finish First Week Of Scrimmages

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The North Carolina Tar Heels held a 9 1/2 inning scrimmage under intense heat on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Offensive Highlights:Â Will Myhand and Mandela Browman each had three hits, all singles. Harrison Ailshie was 2-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Ailshie hit a 439-foot home run just to the left of the batter's eye.Â
Tyler Howe belted a Grand Slam homer to right-center. Erik Paulsen, who doubled, was 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Â Derek Houston was 2-3 on a pair of doubles with two runs scored. Jamie Laskofski was 2-6 with one RBI and one run scored.
Defensive Highlight:Â Â CJ Egrie made an amazing running, sliding catch in deep right-center to rob Perry Hargett of extra bases.
Pitching Highlights:Â Â Eight Tar Heels threw in the scrimmage: Major Osbolt, Joey Ruller, Jimmy Voorhies, Preston Crowl, Ryan Smith, Scott Doran, Sean Hurley and Tim Lawson.
Doran threw 3.0 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit while striking out two and walking none. 25 of his 37 pitches were strikes. Voorhies gave up one run in 3.0 innings with three strikeouts and no walks. Â Lawson gave up one run in 2.0 innings.
The Tar Heels will hold their next scrimmage next Tuesday afternoon.
