Track & Field Announces Additon Of All-America JJ Olivera

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The future of North Carolina Track & Field is bright with Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Chris Miltenberg announcing the addition of All-America pole vaulter, JJ Olivera.
Olivera heads to Chapel Hill, following two seasons at High Point. With the Panthers, Olivera earned NCAA Outdoor Honorable Mention All-America after placing 17th overall at the NCAA Championships in Eugene after clearing 5.35m.
Posting a career-best at the NCAA East First Rounds, Olivera came away with a 5.45m clear to punch his first ticket to Eugene. This past season as a redshirt sophomore, he placed third at the Big South Championships.
Out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Olivera earned the title as the 2023 Florida 4A Outdoor State Champion as well as coming away with the crown as the 2023 New Balance Indoor National Champion.
