Four Tar Heels Named Tewaaraton Top-25 Nominees

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women's lacrosse program had four players named Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Nominees on Thursday evening. Sam Forrest, Chloe Humphrey, Eliza Osburn and Addison Pattillo make up the group of Tar Heels recognized. The four nominees leads the nation. The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
A Glastonbury, Conn. native, Forrest burst onto the scene last season when she was named IWLCA Defender of the Year. She is now a two-time Tewaaraton Top 25 honoree and a member of the U.S. National Team that will compete at the World Lacrosse Championships this summer. She was also drafted with the sixth pick in last night's WLL Draft by the Maryland Charm.
Humphrey, last year's Tewaaraton and Honda Sport Award for Lacrosse winner, has continued to elevate her game in 2026. She currently leads the nation in goals (72) and points (102), while her 30 assists are tied for 25th. The preseason player of the year, Humphrey claimed first-team All-America honors last year along with NCAA and ACC Tournament Most Outstanding Player recognitions. She went on to become a staple with the U.S. National Team and will be a part o the squad that competes at the World Championships this summer.
A Castle Rock, Colo. native, Osburn has put herself in the discussion for the top midfielder in college lacrosse. She claimed All-America honors last year while being named ACC Freshman of the Year. Her game has only continued to elevate this season. She's scored 25 goals and dished out 14 assists to rank third on the team in points with 39. She's also grabbed 14 groundballs, caused 10 turnovers and secured 26 draw controls. Osburn is also a member of the U.S. National Team that will compete at the World Championships this summer.
Pattillo has flourished during her sophomore season after coming on strong late in her freshman campaign last year. She's currently second on the team in goals and points with 40 and 48 respectively, and her 3.1 goals per game ranks 30th nationally. A dodging nightmare for defenders, Pattillo is also effective in the ride, having caused 14 turnovers to go along with 14 groundballs.
