Four Tar Heels Selected In Inaugural WLL College Draft
April 15, 2026 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women's lacrosse program had four players selected in the inaugural Women's Lacrosse League College Draft on Wednesday night. Sam Forrest, Brooklyn Walker-Welch, Kiley Mottice and Darcy Felter all heard their names called in the four-round draft, making UNC the most well-represented program in the country.
Forrest was first off the board for the Heels, going to the Maryland Charm with the sixth overall pick. The nation's top defender last year, Forrest is once again dominating the competition in 2026. She's in the running for the Tewaaraton Top 25 and All-America honors a year after doing the same.
Walker-Welch was next when the California Palms drafted her with the eighth pick. A three-time All-American, she will likely be recognized a fourth time after this season. A Canadian international, Walker-Welch has been one of the game's top defenders for years and will take her talents to the Palms this summer.
Mottice heard her name called with the 10th pick by the Maryland Charm. A two-time captain for the Heels, Mottice is one of the best two-way middies in the country. She's contributed 20 goals, two assists, 17 groundballs and eight caused turnovers this season.
Felter rounded out the draftees when the New York Charging selected her with the 13th pick. A senior leader, she has been a key cog in the nation's top offense. Felter has contributed 24 goals and 12 assists on the season.
Next up, the Heels will finish off the regular season on Thursday when they take on Duke in Durham at 5 p.m. That game will air on ACC Network.
