Women’s Tennis Opens Weekend With Sweep Over Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – No. 5 University of North Carolina women's tennis began its road swing in Blacksburg, as it clashed with Virginia Tech Friday afternoon. The Tar Heels picked up their fifth sweep in ACC play after topping the Hokies, 4-0.
In doubles, Anna Frey and Tatum Evans cruised to a 6-1 victory to get Carolina started. No. 5 Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton later clinched the doubles point for the Tar Heels with a 6-4 ranked win over the Hokies on court one.
UNC extended the lead, 2-0, by a default on court six.
No. 95 Alanis Hamilton rolled past her opponent to claim a singles win in straight sets.
Maddy Zampardo eventually clinched the match for Carolina with another dominant, straight-sets win on court five.
