
No. 15 Men’s Soccer Falls At College Of Charleston, 2-0

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The University of North Carolina men's soccer program dropped its first match of the season with a 2-0 loss to College of Charleston on Monday evening. The Heels hit the road for the first time but struggled to get anything going in attack and were caught by a deflected shot in the 64' to fall behind. The Cougars added a second in the 66' to seal the victory.
The Tar Heels fell to (3-1-0, 0-0-0 ACC), while the Cougars moved to 1-3-0 (0-0-0 CAA).

How It Happened
- The first 20 minutes were a stalemate as the teams felt each other out.
- UNC had its first scoring chance in the 33' when a nice passing sequence led to a Max Fisher shot that was saved comfortably by Jourdan Schumacher.
- Carolina earned its first corner of the game in the 57' but nothing came of it.
- The Tar Heels managed a dangerous opportunity in the 58' as a bouncing ball in the box came to Parker O'Ferral inside the 18 but his strike went high.
- Bertil Rygaard Hansen with a lovely turn and finish in the 62' but it was chopped off due to a handball as he gained control.
- College of Charleston with a chance in the 64' minute but the shot went wide.
- Charleston's Pavel Dashin put the Cougars in the lead in the 66' minute on a deflected shot that wrong-footed Andrew Cordes and left him with no chance to save.
- UNC put the pressure on in response but got caught by Dashin again to give Charleston a 2-0 lead in the 72'
- Andrew Czech hit the post in the 72' as the Tar Heels tried to respond but were unable to break through.
Inside the Box Score
- The match got a little chippy midway through the first half and Callum Frogson picked up a yellow card that looked like a clean 50/50 tackle.
- Both Luca Nikolai and Charleston's Matt Lenert were cautioned at the 30' mark.
- Shots were 4-2 at the halftime break with UNC posting the only shot on goal.
- Charleston scored on its only two shots on goal.
- The Tar Heels produced 15 shots but only one on target.
