EVANSTON, ILL. – The second-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse program used a dominant third quarter to roar past No. 3 Northwestern and remain undefeated on the season with a 15-12 win. Chloe Humphrey matched her career high with eight points (4 goals/4 assists) and Ashley Humphrey scored two goals and notched four assists to lead the Heels
The Tar Heels kept their undefeated streak alive and improved to 10-0 (5-0 ACC) while the Wildcats fall to 8-2.

The second-ranked Tar Heels continue their three-game road stretch with a swing through South Bend, Ind. on Sunday, March 30 to take on Notre Dame. First draw is set for 3 p.m. ET and the game will air on ACC Network.

How It Happened
- The Heels gave up the opening goal but went on a 4-0 run to jump in front.
- Ashley Humphrey had three assists in the first quarter, while Chloe Humphrey netted a pair of goals and an assist in the first 15.
- Kate Levy, Kiley Mottice and Caroline Godine all scored in the first period to give the Heels a 5-2 lead.
- Northwestern scored six straight between the end of the first and the second quarter to take an 8-5 lead.
- Oliva Vergano broke the Wildcats' run with nine seconds left to make the score 8-6 at halftime.
- Shots (18) and shots on goal (11) were even in the first half, but Northwestern's goalie made five saves compared to UNC's Betty Nelson's three.
- The team exchanged player-up situations but C. Humphrey earned a free position shot and converted to make it 8-7. It's her ninth hat trick in 10 games this season.
- Ashley Humphrey annoyed with being face-guarded all game decided to take it upon herself and gave the Tar Heels the lead 9-8.
- Kiley Mottice netted two in a row for her hat trick to make it 11-8 going into the break.
- The Heels outscored the Wildcats 5-0 in the third.
